How far can a whisper be heard?
People can hear you from up to 20 m away for normal chatting, 100 m for shouts, 10 m for whispers.
When you talk your voice vibrates to make sound. This vibration travels through the string to the cup at the other end making the cup vibrate so the other person can hear the sound. How could you find out if sound vibrations travel through other materials? travel through them.
